Mrs Tracey Haggerty
Assistant Headteacher, SENDCo
I have worked within education for 26 years or so.
After working at Little Parndon Primary Academy, since being in education, I then joined Freshwaters Primary Academy, initially part time, in September 2018 moving over to full time in September 2019. Throughout my career in education I have had various roles including, HLTA, SEN Learning Assistant, MDA and Inclusion Manager/SENCo. It was whilst working within a school environment, alongside some inspirational people, and exceptional children, that developed my passion for becoming a teacher as well as a SENCo. This inspired me to complete a (BA Hons) degree in Education and then complete a Graduate Teacher Programme to fulfil my dream, gaining Qualified Teacher status in 2010.
Since becoming a teacher I have had the privilege of working alongside some truly exceptional colleagues across all key stages, as well as met some amazing children and their families. My passion lies in working with children with Special Education Needs and Social & Emotional issues. In 2018 I was lucky to be offered the opportunity to reignite this passion further when I was offered the position of SENDCo at Freshwaters, achieving the National Award for Special Educational Needs in 2019.
I believe it is crucial that all children trust they are given the right support and guidance to ensure they feel included and are able to work to their own ability, to achieve their full potential and become independent learners in a safe an inclusive environment.
‘Together may we give our children the roots to grow and the wings to fly!’ Anon
I feel honoured to have become a member of the ‘Freshwaters’ family’ and taking on the role of Assistant Head, in 2019, and I am looking forward to embarking on my next journey with such a wonderful, supportive and inspiring community.
Outside of school, I enjoy gardening, baking and either reading a good book or watching a really good film or drama, but most of all I love spending quality time relaxing and having fun with family and friends.
